ASCENT Participates in the 2008 ASCO EHR Lab

ASCENT Integrated Medical Solutions was selected to present at the Electronic Health Records (EHR) Lab during the 2008 American Society of Clinical Oncology's (ASCO) Annual Meeting, May 30 - June 1, at McCormick Place, in Chicago, Illinois.

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is the world's leading professional organization representing physicians of all oncology subspecialties that care for people with cancer. ASCO's nearly 25,000 members from the United States and abroad set the standard for patient care and lead the efforts to discover more effective cancer treatments, increase funding for clinical and translational research, and, ultimately, improve cancer care for the estimated 10 million people diagnosed with cancer worldwide each year.

ASCO publishes the Journal of Clinical Oncology (JCO), the preeminent, peer-reviewed, medical journal on clinical cancer research, and produces People Living with Cancer (www.plwc.org), a comprehensive consumer website providing oncologist-vetted cancer information to help patients and families make informed health-care decisions.

After an extensive evaluation and screening process, which began six months prior to the event, the T.I.M.E., Totally Integrated Medical Enterprise system was one of only 6 other EHR vendors selected to participate. The process of selection was very competitive and included a live demonstration of the application to the ASCO committee to ensure that medical oncology best practices are functional within the application.

The EHR Lab was a hands-on experience for oncologists, administrators, nurses and other members of the oncology care team to view demonstrations of how ASCENT's oncology EMR, T.I.M.E.(TM)Medical Oncology, can deliver value for their cancer centers. The ASCENT team demonstrated the capacity of their products to provide ASCO recommended clinical decision support using:

-- Chemotherapy Order Entry Regimens and Patient Safety Principles
-- White Blood Cell Growth Factors Guideline Orders and Flow Sheet
-- Drug, Dose & Schedule Recommendations for Antiemetics Regimens
-- Breast Cancer Treatment Plan and Treatment Summary
